Cadre is pleased to announce the appointment of software engineering veteran Skand Gupta as Vice President, Head of Engineering. Skand will lead and continue to build out the firm’s engineering team, known for its industry-leading technology designed to help make private real estate more accessible, transparent and affordable to a greater number of investors. Skand’s appointment is the latest in a series of notable hires which have expanded the breadth and depth of Cadre’s leadership team.

“We are thrilled to welcome Skand to Cadre and continue to add top talent to our leadership team. Skand is joining Cadre following our strongest quarter to date and at a time in which our platform is reaching more individuals and operators than ever before,” said Cadre Founder and CEO, Ryan Williams. “As we launch new product offerings and expand our industry-leading capabilities, Skand’s tech-forward leadership will be an incredible asset to our team and will help propel our next phase of growth.”

Skand’s passion for opening access to real estate is driven by personal experience. Firsthand, he has seen the security that owning and investing in property can provide through his family’s ownership of farmland in India, his home country. As technology levels the playing field in real estate, he believes there is a significant opportunity for investors previously locked out of the asset class. “What excites me about Cadre is the power it has to bring individual investors into a market that previously only the largest institutions could participate in,” said Skand. “This is a powerful moment to be joining Cadre as we look forward to the year ahead with big ambitions to dramatically scale and provide even more investment options for our investors.”

Skand joins Cadre from Better.com, where he most recently served as Senior Engineering Leader, building out technologies and teams to scale and automate real estate mortgage and loan underwriting. Prior to Better.com, Skand built systems responsible for compliant storage and retrieval of financial data for Bloomberg and served as Engineering Manager for Dropbox, leading the creation and launch of products such as Previews, Transfer, and Dropbox Showcase. In all, Skand brings more than 20 years of engineering and leadership experience at leading fintech companies.

“Cadre has an extremely talented tech team that has created a novel marketplace for CRE, and we’re just getting started,” added Skand. “Alongside Ryan and our leadership, I look forward to continuing on our mission to expand access to commercial real estate through integrating technology, data science, and machine learning into our investment processes to create a seamless experience for investors while continuing to drive compelling returns.”

Skand will report to and work directly with Ryan, assuming management of Cadre’s Engineering team and data initiatives as the firm continues its efforts to modernize the commercial real estate investment lifecycle. As Head of Engineering, Skand will expand the platform’s capabilities, further tailoring it to the emerging needs of modern investors and advisors, as well as continue to attract world class talent to Cadre’s engineering team.
